The Cyprus IPA Section was founded in March 1982 by Michael Odysseos, who, at that time, was the permanent Secretary of the Police Trade Union. The first members were registered as Foreign Associate Members with the Hellenic Section.In September 1982

The IPA was founded in 1950 in Great Britain and is the largest police organisation in the world with more than 380,000 members in 63 countries. It is open to every serving and retired police officer irrespective of rank, sex, race, colour, language or religion.
